Vancouver 2010 Olympic Emblem Launch

On April 23, 2005, 60 performers from the Lil'wat, Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations performed together on stage at the unveiling of the Official Emblem of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Leonard George, renowned First Nations leader and cultural performer from the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, was among those on stage that day.

"As a First Nation, a British Columbian and a Canadian, one of the proudest moments of my life was to be at the announcement of the Olympic emblem with members of my family like my grandchildren and the other host First Nations. The four Nations coming together for the first time in this way, for the Olympics, was history-making. We got a standing ovation from the audience - we all felt that we are part of something special. It made we wonder why we ever thought that there were any differences. This opportunity will provide us with a better future." - Leonard George
